Niv Shank was born in 1979. Photographer and filmmaker originally from Israel where he spent my early years growing up in a small desert town named Arad, by the dead sea.
He grew up in a multicultural home, with an Eastern European father and a Middle Eastern mother. Both inspired him to explore cultures, places, languages and people as a way of life.
He discovered early on that photography was the perfect way to explore the world and different cultures. Since picking up a camera, He has never stopped documenting my world. My first subjects were his family and friends and soon after he started getting commissioned photographing talents for magazines.
Photography is the perfect artistic expression for him. He has found that it’s the in-between moments when his subjects relax that he is able to capture the most authentic moments and create friendship on set and keep energy spontaneous.
His first stop was Italy. He watched the movie The Talented Mr. Ripley and fell in-love with this country.
He spent two years touring Europe, shooting and absorbing the cultures. His time spent places has had a huge impact on my work and helped him get connected to his European rots. He later relocated to NYC for a few years and followed by Los Angeles.
Today he’s based in Europe and travel worldwide with his assignments and personal projects.
He’s following his vision to create images that are inspired from life, real people, candid moments, landscapes and his childhood memories.
He works mostly on location and he always shoots with a narrative in mind for both his stills and motions projects.
During Covid he started working on his first photography book named “By The Lake” which is a series of environmental documentary style portraits, and it is scheduled to be out in 2023.
Niv takes great satisfaction in creating a fresh experience with each of his subjects.
He feels indebted to all the wonderful people he has photographed for their role in his career and life.
